Information Technology of Directorate of Standardisation

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

1. Defstand website i.e. http://www.defstand.gov.in/hindiside/index.aspx has been made bilingual, which covers most of the general pages except technical manuals/literature. E-mail facility has been provided on defstand website for 55 users to ensure e-governance and speedy communication by creating Mail Server. Now, we have pages dedicated to each of our nine Cells and six Detachments. These pages are uploaded on weekly basis and covers aspects such as their Codification targets and progress made on the Standardisation front. They also update information on changes that take place at the Cells. Greater awareness is spreading amongst users, which will pay rich dividends in the near future.

2. The I-Net Server has now 40 users. All Cells and Detachments are in constant communication with the CACOSA Server.

3. The average number of hits by users have increased to an average of 225 per day. 10 new users ID have been provided to access our website. The total number of users who access our website are 210.

4. New Line Network for Internet has been installed in the Directorate for security purpose. Internet network was separated from local LAN to ensure greater security.

5. A File Tracking Software (FTS) acquired from NIC has been installed and configured in our Servers. FTS will be initiated in our Directorate in next few months.

6. Information regarding Right of Information Act has been provided on our defstand website.

7. DSL/Broadband Internet Connections will soon be provided to our Cells/Detachments so that Defence Standards are easily available for users across country.

8. A case has been initiated to make Army Intranet available within the Directorate.

9. It is now been proposed to initiate “Best Web Page” award amongst various Cells and Detachments. Modalities are being worked out.
