Director General of Income Tax Department

The office of Director General of Income Tax(Admn) is an attached office of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and functions under the control of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt. Of India. It is the supervisory authority for the four Directorates working under it. These directorates are

1. DIT(IT)

2. DIT(Audit)

3. DIT(RSP&PR)

4. DIT(Recovery)

DGIT(Admn) issues orders of Transfer & Postings of Group ‘A’ & Group ‘B’ officers working in the four Directorates. He also has administrative control over Gr ‘B’ officers and handles Vigilance & disciplinary matters. DGIT(Admn) obtains annual reports for each of the four directorates working under it and possesses the same to Chairman/functional member along with his comments. He coordinates the activities of the Directorates & streamline the working/functioning of the Directorates.
