This implies that customer’s: Dialup ID: prashanthmr Email ID: prashanthmr The Administrative ID & Password is used to access the web page for changing the Administrative Password, Dialup password and Email Password. This page also shows your balance hours and the expiry/ end date of your account, with the account type. 1. Two Email IDs are provided for corporate plan . For all other plans one e-mail ID is provided 1. Change passwords and view balance hours. 2. Installation and Configuration Procedure for PSTN-Dialup Internet Access Software: Configuration Steps: 1. Installing and Setting up Modem 1. Connect the Modem to the Computer as per the Installation Manual given with the Modem and after the Hardware connections are over Switch ON the Modem. Then proceed for the Software settings. 2. Switch ON the Computer. While system is starting “New Hardware Found” window may be displayed. Proceed for Modem Installation as per item number 3 given below. 3. Once the Computer has started and Window Desktop is displayed, Click >Setting > Control Panel. Then double click on Modem Icon. Click On Add. Then “install New Modem” screen appears. If you know the modem type click on “Don’t detect my modem I will select it from a list” else, let computer detect on its own. Click Next. 4. Select the Modem and appropriate model. If you have the modem listed in the list Click on “Next” button else if you have manufacturer’s disk click on “Have Disk", then select the appropriate serial (Com) port and then click “Next” Then Click on Finish. 5. The “Modem Properties ” screen appears. Click on Dialing Properties and enter your area code and your dialing mode like pulse or tone Click on OK to go back to ” Modem Properties” screen. 6. Click on the Properties screen with your modem name properties with 2 tabs 7. The general tab shows the Modem Installed. Click on Properties & select the maximum speed and speaker volume. Then Select the Connection tab and deselect ” wait for dial tone before dialing". 8. To check modem installation click on diagnostic tab, select the Com port where modem is installed and click “more info ” to check if modem has been properly installed. And this completes installation. B. Configuring Dialup Networking 2. To begin with, double click the “My Computer > Dial Up Networking > Make new connection". This will open “Make New Connection” wizard, which will guide you through the rest of the process. 1. Enter the name of the computer (e.g. SANCHARNET) and select the modem type, which is installed on your computer then click on “Configure". Select “Options” tab and deselect all boxes except “Display modem status". Click “OK” and then click on “NEXT” 2. Here you will enter area code and telephone number. The area code is “011″ and the telephone number is “172233″. Then select the country as INDIA. Click “NEXT” After you click the finish button the wizard will close and an icon named “SANCHARNET” will appear in your Dial-up Networking window. Now right click on your “SANCHARNET” icon and then normal click on “Properties". 3. If your screen has the correct information, which you entered during the wizard phase, Deselect “Use country code and area code” and then click on the “Server Types” tab. You must deselect “Log on to Network” and select “Enable software compression” & “TCP/IP". Then click on the “TCP/IP Settings ” button. Then click OK and then OK again. You have successfully configured your computer to dial into the SANCHARNET. Now all you have to do is double click on ” SANCHARNET” icon in your “Dial-Up Networking” folder. Then you will get the “Connect To” window and will be prompted to enter your USER NAME and PASSWORD. Type your User name (in small letters) and Password (Please enter password exactly given to you by us). Then Click “Connect” and the modem starts dialing. Now you will get a “Connecting To SANCHARNET” Your user name and Password will be verified and once it is connected, you will get an icon on the status bar (bottom right of your screen).
Introduction of Web ColocationBSNL provides Internet services to the customers located in about 450 locations. To provide value addition to the services offered, the Web Co-location services have been launched. Web Co-location is an easy and cost effective solution to house a company’s powerful infrastructure without losing the administrative control on the equipments. Web Colocation eliminates much of the Infrastructure costs as well as the maintenance cost of such equipments apart from avoiding the last mile problems. Apart from enjoying the bandwidth and facilities, the customer retains control over his equipment, software and operating system. The customer simply leases the physical space and high-grade, tier one network access from BSNL the hosting provider. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS FACILITIES i. Air-Conditioned, dust free, fire-safe and secure space with racks (42 U) at the nodes for co-location. ii. Necessary cabling (CAT5) for connecting the server to the LAN. iii. BSNL provides one IP Address per site on request. iv. One Sancharnet account of 100 hours to customer to enable administration of the server. Any organization interested to host its server from the Best ISP premises shall utilize BSNL’s Web Colocation. Either the new customer or the customer using the existing facilities of other ISP can avail the facility. The total project has bean carried out in a phased manner - first to commission 45 A & B nodes and then was increased by another 400. Taking One Sancharnet Account gives an Email Box of your choice, Administrative control of your account right from your desktop, Web Hosting of about 1 MB space to launch site about you and your organization and the Internet Access anywhere across the country. Taking an account from Bangalore will enable you to logon to Internet even at Jammu & Kashmir or Kanyakumari.
Introduction of Data Network Circle, BSNLA circle exclusively meant for handling various Data projects in the country is formed during the late 1980s. This circle takes care of the Data Communication related operations including the ISP Sancharnet (National Internet Backbone) activities, Inet - the National Packet Switch Exchange across 103 nodes in the country, other Value Added services like Web fone,Web hosting,Web colocation,to accompalish at the task to its fullest extent,The circle is supported with two regional officers at Delhi & Bangalore with its Headquaters at Delhi. The IT era in which we are living and the resolution that is happening around in the Telecommunications scenario has been identified way back in 1989 and a separate cell was formed to handle the specialized project on Data communications IT related areas. This was launched through the Experimental Packet Switched Public Data Network Trail at 3 major cities as Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. This was how the Data Network Circle was evolved The operations started with the launch of the “ Switched Public Data Network - VIKRAM” commissioned at Major locations of the Country (Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore). This was to primarily to provide Data Services and understand the requirements of he customer. The growth of Data Customers and the Demand for Packet Data Services led to the Commissioning of an Institutional Network (Inet) incidentally coinciding with Indian Network covering 8 cities. This Inet was implemented in a Phased Manner. Inet Phase-I covering 8 nodes expanded to 10 nodes. Inet Phase-II was implemented covering 103 nodes in the country. In the meantime, the Internet explosion was happening all over the world. BSNL deployed the National Internet Backbone (NIB) and “Sancharnet” was born. Sancharnet now has around 450 POPs in the country. Sancharnet provides Internet Access on PSTN, ISDN, DIAS, Internet Leased Access. We have also launched Webfone, Web Colocation and Web Hosting services on the Internet. Apart from this, we have also launched the MPLS VPN Network at 10 cities. This network is connected with STM1’s which will be later augmented to higher streams depending on the Demand of the customer. We also venture into new Areas of Networking, Building and Strengthening the IT infrastructure of the country. To accomplish these tasks, The Data Networks Circle is formed which is headed by the eminent leadership of the Chief General Manager. This Circle has its HQ at Delhi with two Regional Offices at Delhi and Bangalore.
