Training Manual on Codex

All those with some responsibility or interest in food safety and quality and/or trade in food should have an understanding of Codex, its functioning and their level of participation in the formulation of the international standards.

This Training Manual is under preparation as part of the FAO Project entitled “Strengthening the National Codex Committee - TCP/IND/0067(A)". It is directed to all relevant government agencies, autonomous bodies, primary producers, food processing industry, traders in food (including import, export and domestic trade), research institutions, educational institutions, the hospitality industry and consumers and covers both the international food standards setting framework, achieving transparency through the consultative process, and the application of Codex norms to specific sectors.

National Codex Resource Centre

A National Codex Resource Centre was set up in 2002 as the focal office for the work of Codex in India. It was set up under the FAO Project to Strengthen the National Codex Committee TCP/IND/ 0067 (A);

The Resource Centre provides access to copies of Codex standards, agenda papers and reports of Codex meetings, as well as the physical location for the Codex Contact Point for India;

The latest computers with Internet facilities from where several Codex documents and reports can be downloaded are also available for visitors to use within the Centre.
